About the event

It all started on November 4th with the main program, which was broadcasted as a live stream from Ingelheim in cooperation with the Open Channel. Participants had an interactive exchange with prominent guests from politics. On November 5th, an extensive range of online workshops was available for various target groups. In digital exhibition rooms on November 6th, a.o. the partners of the “Democracy wins!” alliance. State Parliament President Hendrik Hering visited contacts in a virtual tour.

2020 program Defend Democracy. Together against hatred and agitation The spread of lies on the internet and hateful messages on social media is booming. This endangers our democracy. It's time to take action and defend them. For the first time, the Democracy Day Rhineland-Palatinate, taking place under the patronage of Prime Minister Malu Dreyer, was held this year in an online format on three consecutive days. The program was aimed at schoolchildren, young people and adults.

Our contribution

The third year in a row we have been invited as main act on stage to cocreate the music and art program of the venue. We are very proud that the organizers have officially announced as as Artists in residence for the federal democracy day.

"As part of the opening program on November 4th, the award-winning artists and social entrepreneurs Reza Solhi and Riccardo Montero from Heartbeat Edutainment are creating an interactive stage program. A rhythmically poetic music performance on the subject of democracy education in Germany is created in real time. As a highlight, young up-and-coming artists from cities and municipalities in Rhineland-Palatinate, who have produced pieces of music for peace, respect, love and unity will perform along at the hybrid event."

On November 4th we had the honor to open the ceremony with renown politicians and ministries like the Minister of the State Malu Dreyer , The minister for Family, Women, Youth and Integration Anne Spiegel and Evelyn Breyer mayor of the city of Ingelheim.

Our first gig included a "Wake up Call" for Democracy performed by Reza Solhi in a spoken word Poetry Performance in German language.

After the opening ceremony we had interesting discussion about local and regional initiatives in the area of democracy until it went to the lunch break. Thereafter in the middle of the event we were responsible for the main #music and #poetry act which turned into an interactive real-time #Songwriting Session which had a commonly created refrain as outcome based on the interactions with the online participants of the event.

After the Songwriting we had Mohsen and Ahmad from Yellow Ingelheim performing their song for a better togetherness and tolerance.

Following the performance of the Youth the Reza´s #SpokenWordPerformance about Racism and Discrimination caused stillness and room for deep reflection. As conclusion of tre main act the Team of MotivARTist performed a written song about the "Wake up call for Democracy" to active and motivate for a stronger community and a human centric approach protecting and respecting #HumanRights and #dignity.

During the day we were also interviewed about our participation and our work as #artists and #SocialEntrepreneur in general.

Follow your heart and intuition as you will find wisdom in your heart. With that wisdom you can be a great contribution to our society. So what are you wating for? Democracy is waiting for you to get active.

One of our favorite jobs and passions is to lyrically summarize the whole congress which we also did this time. As the event went on with fruitful discussions and very energetic and interactive panel discussions between young and old as well as active citizens and politicians, we did not miss the chance to do a #PoeticRecap.

The whole Kick-Off day has been summarized by us. Have a look at the Lyrical Spoken Word Summary of the day.

#BONUS

Dedicated Song: The doors of the #parliament remain open.

Since Day 1 has been very special to us we have even decided to support the event on all 3 days. On the second and third day we went on writing a dedicated song to enhance the spirit of the event. Especially on Day 3 we had digital stands of local and regional initiatives so with our song we wanted to give those initiatives a collective voice and also to send out a big common message to underline the transparency and participative opportunity of the democary in Rhineland-Palatinate. The name of the song is "The doors of the parliament remain open".

You can hear the song on the official website of the Federal State democracy of Rhineland-Palatinate

The reaction of the event organizer cited from their website:

Heartbeat Edutainment - Our "Artists in Residence" on Democracy Day RLP 2020. The artists from Heartbeat Edutainment have enriched Democracy Day with their contributions. Not only that, they wrote us their own song for this year's event. Listen in and see what the musicians have to say.

To conclude. We were very happy to be part of this amazing event and we are looking forward to collaboration in 2021 and beyond. More #inspiration, more #music, more #poetry and #motivation is yet to come. :-)
